Morning Stream

Morning Stream II watercolor sketch on paper 18 x 26 cm I recently went plein air painting. I painted this same scene last year, about the same time of year and hour ( you can view it here ). I am hoping to catch the feeling I see of the early morning light coming from behind the trees and onto the water. It is very suggestive, hopefully one day I will manage. I apologize for my absence from this blog. I have missed visiting your blogs and hope to be around to catch up soon!

Get the most out of your meal

Spaghetti Sketch  watercolor on Garza Papel paper  20x14 cm.  180 grs The inspiration for this sketch came from last night's dinner. I thought it would be a fun way to practice my negative painting technique. This particular dish is with capers and anchovies...quick, easy and delicious... I worked from a photograph I took before eating my dinner, my memory isn't that good. I wish everyone a nice and creative week!

Sunday Sketches...A morning at the beach.

I would like to share with you some sketches I did this morning. The beach is not  far from my house and we enjoy going there as often as we can. We were out early to try and beat the crowds and found a lot going on.  I didn't bring an eraser with me in order to force myself to draw and avoid trying to get the drawing just right. I often end up spending more time erasing than drawing! I wanted to capture a moment and challenge myself with a moving subject. I have difficulty with people moving, which they do especially when caught up in activities like fishing or enjoying a family day at the beach. There was a fishing contest and I tried to capture the fisherman in action. This family came out for a playdate. If you get  far away enough you don't bother them, obviosly people don't always take so well to being subjects of someone drawing them.

DAY 17-Little Carnations

"Little Carnations"  9.5x6.5in./17x24cm I'm just going to keep it short. I decided to work differently and experiment with my artist pen and watercolors. Hope you have a nice weekend! See the other artists who are participating in Leslie Saeta's painting challenge by clicking here

Day 11 and 12 out of 30

DAY11-sketch of a jade plant "Golden Delicious"watercolor on paper 10x15cm I couldn't find any time on Saturday to paint. Sunday I drew a sketch of one of my many jade plants to make up for it and I painted an apple later in the evening. What I'm appreciating about this challenge is the sense of guilt that inevitably arises if you miss a day. I also find that because we only have so much time to do the project, we don't fuss over it and overwork it like we might when working on longer projects. Well, I won't bore you anymore. I got past my second weekend and I'm almost halfway through this challenge .   See the other artists who are participating in Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge by clicking here
